Frequently Asked Questions

Where can artificial grass be installed?

Artificial turf can be laid on most surfaces including existing soil, concrete, balconies, roof gardens and block paving as well as sloping areas – it is a great substitute for boggy areas with bad drainage and dry or overly shaded spots where natural growth is difficult, and is especially good for those really tricky to maintain areas where mowing may be a problem.

Can weeds penetrate the Grass?

No, weeds cannot penetrate the grass as it has a heavy duty synthetic backing layer, which not only prevents weeds but will not allow moles or rabbits to burrow through it.

Does it require much maintenance?

Absolutely not, just remove any leaves or debris now and then to keep it looking good.

Is it safe for pets and children?

Yes, one of the primary reasons artificial turf is so popular is that it is perfectly safe for both children and pets to play as the polyethylene fibres do not graze or burn the skin.  Even after sustained periods of play there will be no damage to your lawn and definitely no muddy mess to deal with.  And if your pet does foul the grass, just wipe it clean with a light detergent.

Can it be used in boggy areas with bad drainage?

Yes, all Artificial Turf products have a heavy latex backing which has holes punched in a grid.  This will allow water to drain easily, and where ground conditions are poor we can lay the grass over a hardcore base which aids the drainage process even further.

Can it be installed directly on Topsoil?

Yes, though the topsoil has to be solid, compact and level.

Is it realistic?

Our Artificial Grasses are the most realistic on the market place, and with so many improvements in materials and weaving processes they can be quite difficult to differentiate from natural grass.

Can I install turf myself?

Of course you can. If you purchase our turf, we will supply you with full instructions and advice, and can supply all the ancillary materials needed too. This will ensure you do the best possible job.

How long will it take to install

In most instances, no more than one or two days.

Will the turf colour fade over time?

No. Definitely not. All Artificialturfscotland grasses are fully UV stabilised and will not be affected in any way by sunlight.

If I order, how long before you could start my installation?

We could quite easily have your installation start within a week of your order confirmation

How long will it last?

Typically, artificial turf products last from between 15-20 years depending on usage.

Is the product guaranteed?

Artificial Turf Scotland give you a 10 year guarantee with all installations.
